Past lives Part 2 —Something to bring back

Past lives
Part 2 —Something to bring back

In part one, we explored the healing that comes in the form of releasing unresolved trauma that stems from other incarnations. In part 2 we are going to look at past lives that are relevant to the present because there was something learnt, or a quality embodied in that lifetime that would serve them today.

A session that comes to mind as I write is one in which the client initially went to a past/parallel life and saw herself in a village watching women gossiping outside of a dwelling. They were discussing her upcoming marriage to a neighbouring farmer. Visualising this brute of a man in great detail, including the morsels of old food tangled in his beard, she recoiled at the thought of a life by his side. Living as a young woman, at that time and place, she did not have a lot of agency; she was expected to accept the life-plan her parents had arranged for her. But she was adamant that she did not want to marry this repulsive man.

Then she jumped ahead in time and saw herself on a horse travelling through the forest with a group of soldiers. As she gathered her bearings, it became clear to her that she had avoided getting married by running away to join a convent. She later joined an army as a nurse. Travelling to far-away places and caring for the sick was a spirited life that gave her a deep sense of purpose. She described the strange billowing white hat she wore, and was bemused by the fact that she saw herself using honey to heal peoples’ wounds.

From there she jumped in time again. On this occasion she was sitting at a large oak desk in a sweet little cottage, surrounded by a stunning herb garden. She watched herself carefully drawing a plant that lay nearby. On the floor next to her she noticed there were stacks of papers with more plant illustrations and their descriptions. She felt a sense of peace and deep satisfaction as she drew. She knew this lifetime was coming to a close and she was documenting and compiling all the herbal knowledge she had garnered to pass on to later generations.

In her current life, this woman was at a crossroads, wanting to start on a new career path. But she was apprehensive about following her heart because the path to which her heart was drawn held little certainty. When she connected with the version of herself from that lifetime, witnessing the shift from the terrifying, seemingly inescapable situation she initially found herself in, to the gentle sense of fulfilment she experienced at the end, her confidence to follow her heart was greatly bolstered.

When clients discover aspects of themselves who hold energy, or an emotional state, that they need more of in the present, I like to use an NLP technique to create an anchor to this state so that they can more easily access it when needed. To do this, when they are feeling the relevant energy, I suggest a pause to allow them to take time to really get familiar with what it feels like to embody and hold this energy. When they are completely emersed in the feeling, I propose they create a symbol to represent the energy. This symbol can then be called to mind whenever they need to access that feeling or energy. I have found this technique to be a potent little tool that can enhance a person’s connection to a desired state gifted to them along the way in their BQH journey.
